I’m on Mastodon and you can follow me on Mastodon here.

What is Mastodon?

Well, here goes:

Mastodon is a free and open-source software for running self-hosted social networking services.[a] It has microblogging features similar to Twitter, which are offered by a large number of independently run nodes, known as instances or servers, each with its own code of conductterms of serviceprivacy policy, privacy options, and content moderation policies.

Mastodon has been going since 2016 – but it grew in popularity after Elon Musk purchased Twitter and users started to leave Twitter to for alternatives.

Mastodon is one of a few social media networks, which make up the Fediverse.

What’s the Fediverse – I hear you ask?

The fediverse (a portmanteau of “federation” and “universe”) is an ensemble of social networks which can communicate with each other, while remaining independent platforms. Users on different social networks and websites can send and receive updates from others across the network.

Similarly to Twitter, you can follow hashtags and find other like minded folk to talk about your passion with.
